The Two-Space War

I'd better start by explaining about how my partner, Dave Grossman, and I work together.

We're both Alpha Males, and neither one of us is much good at groupthink. We both need and appreciate advice and encouragement, the kind that authors used to get from editors, but don't anymore. But we're both pretty definite about the concept of "What's Mine Is Mine!"

So our deal goes, the senior author does most of the work, gets his name on top, and gets all of the money. The junior author proofreads, makes suggestions, plays the devil's advocate, and is the cheering section. He doesn't get paid, gets his name on the bottom, and the senior author makes all final decisions.

It works for us. In all of the previous books with two authors on the cover, I was the senior author. Dave made some great contributions. His characters are, I think, better than mine, and his lines are absolutely fabulous. Most of the chapter titles in the last three books were really written by Dave.

On the other hand, my technology is better than his, as is my grasp of history. Our poetry is about equal, but he cheats and takes notes, while I have to recite everything from memory, since I always misplace the notes.

But the books themselves were written by me.

The 'Two Space War' was written by Dave Grossman, with a little help from his friend.

He came up with a weird universe, containing more new and strange ideas per square inch than anybody, anytime before. Yet after a while, I found that the internal consistency of his universe had me believing and understanding it all completely.

We had some disagreements, which he, of course, always won. I never have been able to convince him that a computer virus is not quite the same thing as a human virus. But not to worry about that.

Lt.Colonel Dave Grossman is a world renowned psychologist specializing in the human reactions to killing and combat. It shouldn't be surprising that his battle scenes, and there are many, are absolutely the best written anywhere by anybody. I firmly believe that Dave is actually better at it than my Master, Robert Heinlein, and that is the biggest compliment that I know how to give.

Dave is well into the second book of this series, and has it plotted out through five more books.

Please read them. It's a serious, wacky, bloody, and funny series of battles and romps across a corner of the galaxy, fighting an interstellar war in wooden ships!

Enjoy.
