R.I.P. Leo Frankowski
Leo Frankowski was widely known for the popular Adventures of Conrad Stargard series, which has gone through seven novels, with translated editions in Italy, Spain, and Poland. He wrote fourteen successful science fiction novels.
Following the publication of his first novel, he was nominated for the John W. Campbell award for best new writer.
Before he began writing, he held more than a hundred different positions, ranging from scientist in an electro-optical research lab, to chief engineer, to company president. His work in chemical and optical instrumentation earned him several patents. In addition, his wide technical expertise showed in his science fiction, which lent a strong sense of realism to his writing.
After marrying and subsequently divorcing a Russian, he moved back to the United States to complete his work on the final Conrad Stargard novel.
Unfortunately, he will not complete it. On 25 December 2008, Leo died.
For neither do men live nor die in vain.
We'll miss you, Leo -- you left a lasting impression on all of us.

Lord Conrad's Crusade: Prolog - The Taking of Alexandria
Heavy artillery, aerial strafing, and bombardment are all very well, but there comes a time when you must go in there and clean a city out, and for that, I personally prefer to use a sword. For one thing, you don’t get killed while you are reloading.
Why does the human mind insist on multi-tasking? Since fighting for my life took only half of my brain, the other half was free to distract me. I don’t know why they call it “thrust, beat, and parry”.
Welcome
